Gloucestershire Airport has been purchased by Horizon Aero Group, formed through a partnership between Vayu Aviation Services Ltd in the UK and Vensa Infrastructure Ltd from India, in a landmark deal topping £25 million.
The 375-acre airfield, situated between Gloucester and Cheltenham, previously belonged to both city councils but officially changed hands in June 2025.
This transition is expected to spark major upgrades, with Horizon Aero Group pledging to balance heritage with modernization and drive future growth.
The sale ends a period of financial strain, including a £7.5 million refurbishment loan in 2021, and will help clear airport debt while benefiting both councils.
Plans include expanding business parks and strengthening the airport’s economic contribution, which currently stands at over £50 million yearly for the local economy.
